Problem
Attempt to upgrade IBM Tivoli Service Request Manager (TSRM) version 7.2.1.1 with CCMDB failed with DE Exception and DE Exception kills IBM ADE Service
Symptom
The upgrade fails with the message that "DE database backup or restore failed - see traces for details".
Environment
IBM Tivoli Service Request Manager 7.2.1.1 with CCMDB and IBM Deployment Engine
Diagnosing The Problem
Issue listIU command to verify, but it failed. The error prompted earlier had killed the ADE service. Restarted the ADE Service and tried again but prompted with the same error.
There are no lock files that seem to be lingering around.
Review the DE trace.log and you'll find the following exceptions towards the end:

Resolving The Problem
1. Take DE backup(\common\acsi\bin\de_backupdb.cmd)
2. Install private DE manually at c:\ibm\smp\ctg_de as shown below:
si_inst.bat -privateDE -i c:\ibm\smp\ctg_de
3. Restore the DE backup and then try upgrade.
