IV16930: WITH 2 WPARS "NETSTAT -IN" FAILS IN THE WPAR STARTED FIRST APPLIES TO AIX 6100-06

Error description

  • When using WPAR Specific Routing, "netstat -ni" will fail
for
the second WPAR started.

Here is how to replicate the problem:
1. Create 2 WPARS.
2. Configure WPAR Specific routing on BOTH machines.
3. Start Node 1 then Node 2
4. Run "netstat -in" in Node 1 and Node 2

Results:
On Node 1 WPAR you will get this error:
# netstat -in
netinfo(): The file access permissions do not allow the
specified action.

On Node 2 WPAR you will have a successful display of the
routes.

Problem summary


    

  • When there are more than one WPAR, netstat -in command
will fail with following error.
# netstat -in
netinfo(): The file access permissions do not allow the
           specified action.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • netstat code is modified to list only the interface
statistics specific to that WPAR. The above error occurred
only when WPAR attempts to list other WPAR's loopback
statistics. Hence the problem resolved.
