Troubleshooting
Problem
When attempting to install or update IBM Rational ClearCase or IBM Rational ClearQuest on Solaris 11.1, the procedure fails with an error message referring to the GSKit already installed on the global zone.
Symptom
On Solaris 11.1 the install or update operation fails with the error:
Action GskitAction (install /opt/IBM/RationalSDLC) failed: java.io.IOException: Exit status 1 from command:
pkgadd -G -a ./admin -n -d . gsk8cry32
stderr: pkgadd: ERROR: The package <gsk8cry32> is currently installed on the system in the global zone. To install the new instance of this package in the global zone only, you must specify the -G option.
To install the new instance of this package in all zones you must first remove the existing instance of this package from the global zone first (via pkgrm) and then install the new instance of this package in all zones.
pkgadd: ERROR: package <gsk8cry32> cannot be installed on this system/zone
Cause
The mechanism used by Installation Manager to detect GSKit was modified on Solaris 11.1.
Diagnosing The Problem
Attempt to install or update the IBM Rational ClearCase or IBM Rational ClearQuest. During the install phase the error message "ERROR: The package <gsk8cry32> is currently installed on the system in the global zone." will appear and the operation will fail.
Resolving The Problem
This problem has been fixed in the IBM Rational ClearCase and IBM Rational ClearQuest release 8.0.0.9, 8.0.1.2 and newer versions.
To fix this problem, remove the GSKit package that is already installed. Then, retry the install or update operation. For details on removing the GSKit package, see the Related information section.
