How to find WWPN numbers from HMC enhanced GUI

How To

Summary

This "how to" page shows how to find the WWPN (worldwide port name) numbers of the Physical Fibre Channel adapters on a wanted Power System, by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC) Enhanced Graphic User Interface.

You can also find the command to use from the command line of the HMC for the same purpose.

Objective

Important! In order for the HMC to receive the WWPN information from the Power System, it should be powered on in "Hardware Discovery Mode" that is available on Powering On as pointed in the IBM Docs: Power On
You can also run the hardware discovery process when you create a system plan by the "Retrieve inactive and unallocated hardware resources" option.

Environment

HMC versions: V8R8.6.0, V8R8.7.0, V9R1 and V9R2

Steps

Click the "Resources" icon (upper left) and click on "All Systems", then click the name of the wanted system:

Then, from the left sidebar, click "Processor, Memory, I/O", expand "Physical I/O adapters" that is at the end of the page and navigate to the Fibre Channel adapters. If there is a "+" icon, next to the name of the fiber adapter Card, click it so each port is listed and click the "i"(information) symbol against it:
