APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • mkcd with -N flag fails to create the mkcd.data file.
Thus the restore would fail fails with :
              Error Warning
The installation media does not identify the software
vendor. The install cannot continue.  If you are
installing
from NIM, copy the <mount-point>/installp/ppc/
bos.vendor.profile from your install media to the
installp/ppc directory in your NIM lpp_source and retry
the install.

Local fix

  • Manually verify wpars fs in rootvg are mounted.
Then run mkcd without -N flag.

Problem summary

  • The restore from the backup created
via mkcd command fails with :
Error Warning
The installation media does not identify the software
vendor. The install cannot continue.  If you are installing
from NIM, copy the /installp/ppc/
bos.vendor.profile from your install media to the
installp/ppc directory in your NIM lpp_source and retry
the install.
Then customer is prompted in bos_menus.

Problem conclusion

  • Renamed create_data_file function and calls to the same
in mkcd, so that it doesn't confuse with one from
cmdbsys_lib
