APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When nfs4 client makes a blocking lock request and if the
lock is unavailable the nfs server would allocate a
    filock
struct to sleep on that lock. Since the nfs client will
    keep
retrying the request, the total pool of filock on the
    system
could eventually be exhausted if the lock never becomes
    available.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • System resources eventually get exhausted and the system
    becomes unusable

Problem conclusion

  • Add in a check to prevent unnecessary flock structs from
    being created
