APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The copy mode of pax (-r -w) does not overwrite existing
destination files. Since the -k flag is used to
explicitly prevent the overwriting of files, it is
assumed that without the -k flag, it should overwrite.

Also, if the destination directory already exists - a
    file
that exists in the source directory but does not exist in
the destination directory may fail to be copied.

Local fix

  • no fix available

Problem summary

  • pax command handles destination directory incorrectly
when no overwrite flag is used.

Problem conclusion

  • Change the conditional statement so as to
ensure destination directory is handled correctly.
