IT07844: The lppchk -c command may display error messages when run on an AIX IBM Systems Director 6.3.x server.

Error description

  • When running lppchk -c on AIX with IBM Systems Director (ISD)
6.3.x, multiple error messages may be seen. The error messages
are regarding files that could not be located and some expected
values.
Sample of errors are as follows :
lppchk: 0504-206  File /usr/lib/microcode/ibmsis5703.img coul
not be located.
lppchk: 0504-206  File
/opt/freeware/Director_instNLS/installer/msg/it_IT.8859-15/di
torInstCmd.cat could not be located.
lppchk: 0504-208  Size of /opt/ibm/director/license/LA_tr is
114951, expected value was 109668.


Impact:
No functionality is impacted, but the lppchk command will post
errors

Local fix

  • Running the below commands will resolve the issue, by removing
unneeded files

Problem summary

  • This can happen as a result of upgrading the AIX operating
system on an existing ISD installation.
This is a limitation in the support of different locales.
Disabling all the locales except EN, by performing the Local
Fix, with resolve the issue.
