Troubleshooting
Problem
When trying to validate FileNet Content Engine has been correctly deployed by accessing the ping page, the page only shows 2 empty boxes.
Symptom
On the hosting Websphere server, the SystemOut.log file will show this stack:

com.filenet.api.exception.EngineRuntimeException: FNRCE0040E: E_NOT_AUTHENTICATED: The user is not authenticated.
Cause
In this case, the error is due to an Active Directory limitation with pre-windows 2000 logon names that must be shorter than 21 characters and is not specific to WebSphere or CE. In this case the problem account was the bootstrap account.
Environment
This problem will occur when using Active Directory as the LDAP provider if the bootstrap user pre-windows 2000 logon name is longer than 20 characters
Diagnosing The Problem
Attempt to login to any Windows machine with this account (boostrapaccounttoolong) and its password will also result in a failure (password or username is not valid).
Resolving The Problem
Change the account pre-windows2000 logon name or use a different account.
