Error description

  • The userdel -r default behavior was modified to not delete a
    user's home directory if the same home directory is accessed
    by another user unless the -f flag was specified.

    * bos.rte.security at 7.1.2.0 through 7.1.2.15 level.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    * The userdel -r default behavior was modified to not delete a
    * user's home directory if the same home directory is accessed
    * by another user unless the -f flag was specified.

    * RECOMMENDATION:
    * Install APAR IV38414.
    * Prior to fix availability, an interim fix is available from
    * ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/aix/ifixes/iv38414/

Problem conclusion

  • The userdel -r behavior was restored to previous functionality
    to maintain default behavior.  The userdel -r will delete a
    user's home directory, even if the same home directory is
    accessed by another user (without the need to specify -f flag).
