Error description
Sometimes, the clcomd chose the service IP address as the IP address of the target node, even though the service IP address is on local node. This is because the table was built when the service IP is on the opposite node, and when the connection is tried, the service IP is moved to the local node. As a result, clcomd cannot make the connection between the nodes, until it is being refreshed or restarted. For example, during a PowerHA clstop: . Nov 17 2011 09:58:48 /usr/es/sbin/cluster/utilities/clstop: called with flags -N -s -gr 8 dbref2: Communication error, see logfile cl_rsh had exit code = 255, see cspoc.log and/or clcomd.log for more information
Local fix
Refresh or restart the clcomdES by issueing # refresh -s clcomdES # stopsrc -s clcomdES;startsrc -s clcomdES
Problem summary
CLCOMD CANNOT COMMUNICATE SOMETIMES clcomd uses service IP when it wants to connect to other node which is AIX down. But if this service IP is moved to other node in the cluster during RG move, then connection will be established to that node where this service IP is available rather than to intended one(down node, connect will fail to this) and sends data to the wrong node and down the line, communication fails with PIPE errors.
Problem conclusion
When node is AIX down, skip adding stale IP addresses into clcomd tables for that node.
