APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If authtype is set to ldap_auth in
/etc/security/ldap/ldap.cfg, a non-root user fails to
change
the password of an LDAP based user account even if it has
the aix.security.passwd.admin authorization.

Local fix

  • no workaround possible

Problem summary

  • Unable to change LDAP user password with authorized RBAC user
using ldap_auth type.
As privilged RBAC user, and auth type set to ldap_auth.
# passwd ldap
Changing password for "ldap"
ldap's Old password:
ldap's New password:
Enter the new password again:
3004-604 Your entry does not match the old password.

Problem conclusion

  • When auth_type set to ldap_auth,providing additional privilges
to RBAC user to change LDAP user password.
