IV28730: AIXPERTLDAP FAILS IF A RELATIVE DN OF THE BINDDN CONTAINS SPACE APPLIES TO AIX 6100-07

APAR status

Error description

  • The aixpertldap command will fail if the bindn specified
with the -D option contains a space character.
For example :
"cn=Administrator,cn=users,dc=FVT,dc=AIX" will work
"cn=Admin Unix,cn=users,dc=FVT,dc=AIX" will fail

In the failing case the aixpertldap command will only
error
out the aixpertldap usage because the arguments were not
parsed correctly.

Problem summary


    

  • aixpertldap fails if any relative DN contains space
between words. for example run below command

#"aixpertldap -u -D cn=admin -w adminpwd -b
"o=my company,c=india" -f /tmp/ldapuser.ldif"

failed with error:
# ldapsearch -t -h mem23.in.ibm.com -D cn=admin
-w adminpwd -b ou=aixpert,o=my objectclass=
ibm-aixAixpert ibm-aixpertXmlConfigFile

ldap_search:No such Object

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Arguements are properly parsed in aixpertldap,
such that binding will be done with proper relative DN.
This will ensure aixpertldap is success.
see below example.
#ldapsearch -t -h mem23.in.ibm.com -D cn=admin -w adminpwd
 -b ou=aixpert,o=my company,c=india objectclass=
ibm-aixAixpert ibm-aixpertXmlConfigFile

#aixpertldap.sh: successfully downloaded
XML config files from mem23.in.ibm.com
