How to change the location of the i2.wor file for iBase & MapInfo

Troubleshooting

Problem

Changes to the MapInfo configuration in IBM i2 iBase are made inside the i2.wor file, but by default this file is installed locally to the iBase client, not the server.

Resolving The Problem

The location that iBase uses to find the i2.wor configuration file for MapInfo, is defined by a registry key called ‘Data Folder’. You can find this key in the following location:

Microsoft Windows XP: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\i2\iBase\8\GIS Interfaces\
Microsoft Windows 7: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\i2\ibase\8\GIS Interfaces\

By changing the path of this key, you can host your i2.wor file on a central location so that iBase clients can all use the same MapInfo settings.

The key must be a valid UNC path, for example:

[{"Product":{"code":"SSXW43","label":"i2 iBase"},"Business Unit":{"code":"BU059","label":"IBM Software w\/o TPS"},"Component":"Not Applicable","Platform":[{"code":"PF033","label":"Windows"}],"Version":"8.9.1","Edition":"","Line of Business":{"code":"LOB24","label":"Security Software"}}]
