Abstract
InfoSphere Information Server (IIS) supports High Availabily (HA) configurations for the Engine, Services and Metadata repository tiers. The Packs can be added to such a configuration following the guidelines below.

The Packs for SAP are installed on the Engine tier of the IIS environment, therefore the generic guidelines for the Engine tier HA configuration should be followed (see the "High Availability" topics in the IIS Information Center). The documentation for version 8.7 includes an actual example of setting up an active-passive configuration.
In addition:
- The Packs should be installed on each Engine tier server in the cluster.
- Before installing make sure the environment variable DS_HOSTNAME_ALIAS is correctly set for each server. Details are provided in the technote:
