APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Under the condition that rootvg has been relocated to
another disk, or if rootvg LVM mirroring has been removed
from the disk from which the LPAR was booted, the
alt_disk_copy command will leave duplicate entries in the
ODM (CuAt) for the boot disk.

For example, if the system was booted from hdisk0:
    # bootinfo -b
    hdisk0

but rootvg no longer resides on hdisk0:
    # lspv
    hdisk0 <PVID> None
    hdisk1 <PVID> rootvg

If you run alt_disk_copy to create a copy of rootvg on
hdisk0, the ODM on the altinst_rootvg/hdisk0 will
    contain:
    # odmget -q name=hdisk0 CuAt
    [All entries will be duplicated]

Local fix

  • Rebooting the LPAR prior to performing the alt_disk_copy
    will prevent this error.

Problem summary

  • The alt_disk_copy command will leave duplicate entries in the
ODM (CuAt) for the boot disk.

    odmget -q name=<boot disk> CuAt
     All entries will be duplicated

Problem conclusion

  • Changed the way the boot disk is determined for the purpose of
    alt_disk_copy.
