APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • dpasswd command -P flag cannot use $$ in password. The $$
is changed as PID number eventually. The original
    password
value having $$ does not work. Even single quotes around
the password value doesn't allow this to work.

Local fix

  • The workaround is not to use -P flag. dpasswd command
without -P flag will prompt for user to enter password.
Then $$ in the password can be used normally.

Problem summary

  • dpasswd command -P flag cannot use $$ in password. $$ is
resolved to the pid even when using single quotes. Each time
this is run it will create a different passwd file that
    does not match $$

Problem conclusion

  • Added a fix to prevent resolving env variables when using
    single quotes.

Temporary fix
