Troubleshooting


Problem

You start the CICS Explorer and receive a pop-up box with text "'The CICSexplorer executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library."

Symptom

Cause

Insufficient user permissions to the Eclipse --launcher.library specified in the cicsexplorer.ini file. If not specified (which is how CICS Explorer ships) the executable looks in the plugins directory for the appropriate org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.[platform] fragment with the highest version and uses the shared library named eclipse_* inside.

Resolving The Problem

This is typically a security permissions problem.

First try to launch the CICS Explorer as a Windows Administrator. See TechNet Magazine Tip: Configure Application to Always Run as an Administrator for more details.

If you still receive the launcher popup box, navigate to the Windows system event viewer and review the system, application and security views for any errors at the time the CICS Explorer popup box occurred.
