IV85273: NIS USER CAN'T LOGIN OR GET ITS GROUP NAME IF INDEXING ENABLED APPLIES TO AIX 7100-04

APAR status

Error description

  • NIS user can not login or retrieve its group name for a
    valid
    group id if indexing is enabled and the idx files are
    present.
    su fails with 3004-503 Cannot set process credentials.
    and id -g -n <username> command fails with
    3004-810 Could not get "group" information
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • NIS user may fail to login or retrieve its groups if indexing
    is enabled and index files are present on the NIS client.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A check was added to appropriately check index files when NIS
    is active.
