IV83987: VARYONVG HANG IN SCSIDISK_CLOSE() DURING BOOT APPLIES TO AIX 7100-03

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Close of a scsidisk may hang if another disk is opened
  simultaneously. This has been seen to cause boots to hang
  intermittently during automatic varyon of volumegroups
  if rootvg is on internal scsi disk, and other VGs are
  on SAN disk.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Closing a disk, or varyoffvg might hang.
  

Problem conclusion

• Correcetd the code to avoid the hang in such scenarios of
  parallel open, and close.
