Error description

  • The customer has an EXEC/CLIST that issues a D SMF, I SMF, &
    then a D SMF. Upon completion of the first D SMF, the I SMF
    command was issued, which resulted in the command response
    field, CART, containing a null value. Automation was
    expecting a non-zero value from this CART field.

Problem summary

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

    MSGIEE362A, MSGIEE362I, or MSGIEE391A, the SMF data set switch
    (I SMF) command response messages, may not be routed back to
    the console that issued the I SMF command. This can happen if
    a D SMF (Display SMF) command is issued while SMF has not yet
    completed the switch processing on behalf of an I SMF
    command. This is because the same field is used to hold the
    Command And Response Token (CART) value for both switch and
    display SMF processing.
    

Problem conclusion

  • SMF data set switch (I SMF) command processing is changed to
    use a separate field to contain the CART value for switch and
    display SMF processing.
