Error description

  • RLS user catalog defined with dataclass name using less than 8
    characters and
Dataclass RLS Above the 2-GB = YES
may not use the above the bar buffers. Issue occurs due to
incorrect length being used when looking up dataclass construct
which potentially leads to above the bar buffers not being set.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a user catalog is defined using a *

    * characters and RLS ABOVE THE 2-GB BAR *
    * = YES, above the bar buffers may not be *
    * used for that user catalog. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply PTF.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
When SMSVSAM calls SMS to identify a data class for an RLS-
enabled user catalog, it may pass an inaccurate name if the data
class name is shorter than 8 characters. SMS cannot find the
data class, and SMSVSAM will use default values for data class
information. The RLS ABOVE THE 2-GB BAR field will be set to NO,
and the RLS-enabled catalog will use below-the-bar buffers
    instead of above-the-bar buffers.

Problem conclusion

  • SMSVSAM now sets the data class name length correctly when
opening an RLS-enabled user catalog. SMS succeeds in finding the
data class and SMSVSAM gets accurate parameters for the catalog.
