Error description
All 4 problems (abend002, abend0C1, abend737, abend614) are caused by an overlay of the RMR token in one of the access methods internal control blocks. An inconsistent compression block size causes the token field to get overlaid by in invalid scatter/gather list being built. This invalid compression blocksize exists within the catalog entry for the dataset. ADDITIONAL KEYWORDS IEC036I IEC214I S614-24 S002-F7 S737-28 S0C1
Local fix
Copy the dataset with IEBGENER and then use the newly allocated copy instead.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of sequential zEDC compressed * * format data sets. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Various abends may be encountered when * * an invalid physical blocksize for a * * zEDC compressed format data set is * * found in the catalog. Possible abends * * include:ABEND002-F7, ABEND0C1, * * ABEND737-28, ABEND614-24. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Various abends may be encountered when an invalid physical blocksize for a zEDC compressed format data set exists in the catalog.
Problem conclusion
New abend reason codes added to attempt to detect this invalid condition. Abend 213-FA:During open of a zEDC compressed format data set, an invalid physical blocksize (VVRNCISZ) was found in the catalog. Abend 213-FB:During open of a new zEDC compressed format data set, an invalid physical blocksize was derived. In addition, an abend 0C1 issued to catch invalid attempt to overflow beyond the internal compression array. An incorrect value will occur if the data set is allocated, opened and then closed without writing data when the system determines it should be tailoreed or generic. If the data class or PARMLIB default is then changed so that the next open determines that the data set should be zEDC compressed, a physical blocksize for tailored or generic will exist in the catalog and would have been used before this fix. The code in OPEN has been changed to correct the physical blocksize for a zEDC compressed data set if it if found to be incorrect and the data set is empty. KEYWORDS: ZEDC/K
