Beginning with Version 7.1.3, IBM® Tivoli® Storage Manager is now IBM Spectrum Protect™. Some applications such as the software fulfillment systems and IBM License Metric Tool use the new product name. However, the software and its product documentation continue to use the Tivoli Storage Manager product name. To learn more about the rebranding transition, see technote 1963634.

Notes:
1. HPE StoreOnce Backup is an disk based storage device which emulates one or more tape autoloader devices. The emulated tape and autoloader devices can be backup targets for Tivoli Storage Manager Server.

2. The following library emulation mode are supported:

•   D2DBS Library
•   MSL G3 Series (2x24) Library
•   MSL G3 Series (4x48) Library
•   MSL G3 Series (8x96) Library
•   IBM TS3500 (03584L32) Library

3. The following read/write drive emulation mode are supported:

•   HP Ultrium 7-SCSI
•   HP Ultrium 6-SCSI
•   HP Ultrium 5-SCSI
•   HP Ultrium 4-SCSI
•   HP Ultrium 3-SCSI
•   HP Ultrium 2-SCSI
•   IBM ULTRIUM-TD3

4. HPE StoreOnce Backup System Software version 4.1.0 has been validated with Spectrum Protect Server 7.1.8 and 8.1.5 with the following emulation modes.

•   Library emulate - HP MSL G3 Series (2x24) Library - Firmware : EL21
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 7-SCSI - Firmware :ED71

•   Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (4x48) Library - Firmware : EL31
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 6-SCSI - Firmware : ED61

•   Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (8x96) Library - Firmware : EL41
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 6-SCSI - Firmware : ED61

•   Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (8x96) Library - Firmware : EL41
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 6-SCSI - Firmware : ED61

5. HPE StoreOnce Backup System Software version 3.1.0 has been validated with TSM 6.3.2 with the following emulation modes.

•   Library emulation - HP D2DBS Library - Firmware : EL01
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 3-SCSI - Firmware : ED31

•   Library emulate - HP MSL G3 Series (2x24) Library - Firmware : EL21
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 2-SCSI - Firmware :ED21

•   Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (4x48) Library - Firmware : EL31
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 4-SCSI - Firmware : ED41

•   Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (8x96) Library - Firmware : EL41
•   Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 5-SCSI - Firmware : ED51

6. HPE StoreOnce Backup System Software version 3.13.0 has been validated with TSM 7.1.3 with the following emulation modes.

•   Library emulation - IBM 03584L32 Library- Firmware : 4.02
•   Drive emulation - IBM ULTRIUM-TD3 - Firmware : 8711

7. Barcodes are supported.

8. ELEMENT=AUTODETECT in the DEFINE/UPDATE DRIVE command is supported.

9. Application Managed Encryption (AME) is not supported.

10. Drive Encryption, Logical Block Protection , and WORM are not supported.

11. If the emulated tap drives are IBM Ultrium tape drives, the IBM device driver is required. The IBM device drivers are available at IBM Fix Central. Choose the following options from the drop-down menus.

•   Product Group -> System Storage
•   System Storage -> Tape systems
•   Tape systems -> Tape drivers and software
•   Tape drivers and software -> Tape device drivers
•   Platform -> Select the platform for the device driver

Library and drive may require different minimum Tivoli Storage Manager levels. Therefore, ensure that both library and drive hardware are supported. See "Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or "Supported Devices for Linux" for more support information including minimum supported version levels and supported platforms.
