APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer running z/OS 2.1 in a shared file system environment
  and seeing MOUNT failure message BPXF274I with reason code
  x'055B005B' JrIsMounted for automount-managed file systems.
  This failure can happen in a shared file system configuration
  when another system in the same shared file system sysplex is
  already in the process of automounting the file system.  These
  are transient failures that do not result in an application
  lookup failure, but rather resolve when the file system is
  mounted on this system via a separate catchup mount.
     The BPXF274I message was introduced with z/OS 2.1 and should
  be suppressed for these automount JrIsMounted failures.

  *                      mounted on multiple systems             *
  *                      concurrently.                           *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  In a shared file system configuration, an automount managed file
  system is being mounted on system SY1.  At roughly the same time
  automount attempts to mount the same file system on system SY2.
  The mount fails on SY2 with RC70 EAGAIN, RSN055B005B
  JrIsMounted.  Automount processing invokes the Mount Failure
  reporting utility which creates a Mount Failure entry (viewable
  using the D OMVS,MF command) and issues hardcopy message
  BPXF274I.  Automount processing loops, re-attempting the mount
  on SY2.  Eventually the mount on SY1 completes and subsequently
  on SY2.  However multiple mount failure entries and MSG BPXF274I
  may be issued during the looping mount attempts.  Neither the
  mount failure entries nor the MSG BPXF274I should be issued for
  this recoverable automount flow.
  

Problem conclusion

• Automount is changed to avoid invoking the mount failure
  utility to record the mount failure and issue MSG BPXF274I
  when the mount fails due to RC70 EAGAIN RSN055B005B JrIsMounted.
