Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of z/OS FlashCopy Manager. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: New Function: Identify the device or * * devices that are taking the longest to * * establish FlashCopy Relationships. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Support for displaying the times it takes to do a FlashCopy establish or withdraw was added in two places and is controlled by parameters specified in any of the jobs that call FLYAFC09 in the highqual.FCMGR.groupqual.NEW.JOBS and highqual.FCMGR.groupqual.CURRENT.JOBS PDS. In highqual.FCMGR.groupqual.NEW.JOBS the following members may be changed to get the new message: A@WITHDR B@ESTABL Z@ESTABL Z@WITHDR Longest I/O: Jobs that call FLYAFC09 may now specify an additional 'X' to receive an additional message, FLYAF604I that contains the device number and time of the device that took the longest to complete the I/O. Edit the desired members and add an 'X' to the parms passed to FLYAFC09. Make sure that 'DELAY' is also specified. For example: //*********************************************************** //FREEZE EXEC PGM=FLYAFC09,COND=(0,LT), // PARM='FCFRX,F1=202601,DELAY,TON,X' When the job is run, look at the output for additional messages FLYAF602I and FLYAF604I that will contain the device number of the device that took the longest to complete the establish or withdraw I/O and the time it took. For example: FLYAF602I Time - T0=13:58:00.703 - T2=13:58:00.715 FLYAF604I LONGEST I/O 0F45 0.010 seconds Each I/O: A message for each pair will be issued if the 'TRACE' parameter is specified. The parameters 'TRACE' and 'X' are mutually exclusive but may be specified together. Be sure 'DELAY' is specified. If 'TRACE' is specified, expect a set of trace messages that will include a FLYAF903I message with the pair, the device number and the time it took to complete the I/O. This option should only be used if for problem determination as the number of messages could be substantial given the number of tasks and establishes or withdraws done.
