Error description

  • Config stor, offline command was issued for a range of storage
that included storage in the 1G increment below 64G. This
increment contained frames that were fixed long term by a
non-swappable address space. IAXUR, the free frame SRB, was
scheduled to intercept this frame. After APAR OA44199, this
processing scans only the storage areas containing intercepted
frames. Since the address space was non-swappable the free
frame was not successful. This area of storage was marked for
reprocessing later; however, the code immediately reprocesses
    the same range continuously.
    PE Information:
User's Affected: Users with OA44199 installed.
    UA73558(HBB7790) UA73559 (JBB778H)
    User Impact:
Users of CONFIG STOR,OFFLINE command with greater than 63G
    real storage.
APAR OA44199 fixed the problem it reported but introduced a new
    problem described above.

Local fix

  • With systems that have more than 1 CPU:
    Cancel the config offline process

This problem can occur whenever a frame located in a 1G
increment just below any 64G multiple is marked intercepted
and cannot be processed on the first pass in IAXUR.

Problem conclusion

  • Module IAXUR is changed to process the next frame when the
previous frame is marked for reprocessing.
