Error description
Each PFA Check that runs at model time has some intermediary files that get reused. The STDERR file in particular contains information that may give clues as to abnormal problems occurring in the JVM. If a subsequent model happens in that check the data is overwritten therefore making it difficult to collect this data for intermittent problems. If an error has occurred this apar will address retaining that data so it can be collected easier.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of HBB7780 and HBB7790 * * exploiting the Predictive Failure * * Analysis (PFA). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA) * * overwrites the STDERR/STDOUT files at * * next modeling time. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** PFA checks create STDERR/STDOUT files at model time if they don't exist. These files may have important debugging information in case problems occurred during modeling. If information is not gathered before the next instance of modeling, these files get over written. PFA should preserve instances of these files for a few previous modeling instances.
Problem conclusion
PFA was enhanced to do the following: When DEBUG is set ON ('DEBUG(1)') for a check, PFA will preserve up to 5 STDERR and STDOUT files from previous modeling instances for that check. Once there is no need for preserving STDERR/STDOUT files, set DEBUG OFF ('DEBUG(0)') to clean up the extra files from check directories.
