OA43530: ABEND0C6 IN XML SYSTEM SERVICES DUE TO AN OVERLAY. THE HIGH HALF OF REGISTER 7 IS NON-ZERO.

Error description

• The Job fails as follows:
  SYSTEM COMPLETION CODE=0C6  REASON CODE=00000006
  NO ACTIVE MODULE FOUND
     NAME=UNKNOWN
     DATA AT PSW IS UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME
  With the high-half of register 7 indicating an inaccessible
  address.
   EXTERNAL SYMPTOMS:
   Abend0c6 in the joblog with No Active Module Found,
   Name=Unknown, and register 7 containing a bad address.
   ANALYSIS:
        The application exhausts the current storage extent and a
   new one is needed.  This triggers a call to GXLCALL which in
   turn calls GXLS4GET.  In GXLCALL we put the XPLINK stack
   pointer in register three and then use PAB_SAV_R13 in the call
   to GXLS4GET since we are going back to PLX ASA linkage.
   GXLS4GET first saves the registers and then does the get for
   the extent before initializing it.  During extent
   initialization we save the low halves of registers 14 through
   12 in a save area off of register 13.  This save overlays the
   offset in the XPLINK pointer where GXLCALL expects to find
   register 7, which it uses to return to the caller.  The
   abend0c6 is the result of this.
  
        An example of the bad address in register 7 is:
   176D7ECD_000000F5
   KNOWN IMPACT:
        The job running will fail with an abend0c6.
   VERIFICATION STEPS:
   1.  Must be running a job calling for XML System Services.
   2.  Joblog shows an abend0c6.
   3.  A review of the PAB, Parser Anchor Block, in the dump shows
       PAB_SAV_R13 is greater than PAB_MAX_R13.
   4.  Summary Format for the abending TCB shows the BEA, Breaking
       Event Address, pointing into module GXLCALL.
  

Local fix

• RECOVERY ACTION:
   Rerun the failing job.
