Error description
When a dump ends the RSB DIE is not dequeued. This prevents the RSB DIE from being queued for the next dump. This opens a window where the RSB DIE for the previous dump can call IAXXP using SMWKRSM for its input parameters at the same time that IEAVTSSM calls IAXXP using SMWKRSM for the next dump. This causes SMWKRSM to be overwritten resulting in S073-08 on return to IEAVTSDB from the RSB DIE as the RSM locks have not been freed. IVP instructions: 1. Two dumps taken in quick succession 2. Systrace shows S073-08 at IEAVELK+125E (UA62105) 3. The TQEVAL for the RSB DIE will be just prior to the time of the S073-08 and will be for the previous dump. The RSB DIE TQE address is at RTCTDIRS?+10.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of SVC dumps * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND073 RSN08 IEAVELK * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem can occur when multiple SVC dumps, requesting disabled summary dumps, are requested one right after the other. SDUMP mainline, and an SDUMP disabled interrupt exit, may both make requests of RSM services using the same parameter area. Depending upon the timing, the parameter area can be updated by one requestor, to prevent the other requestor from obtaining RSM locks. This will lead to the ABEND073 RSN08 in IEAVELK.
Problem conclusion
Processing was introduced to stop the RSB DIE protection by the time the SVC dump completes.
