Error description

  • 1. Have a volume that is inconsistent.
    2. Go to the Storage tab and filter by that inconsistent
    volume.
    3. Delete that volume.
    4. Log off
    5. Log back on.

    Observe:
When logging back in, the system you were currently on will be
blocked by an error. The Wave Debug log will contain the
    following exception:

    1. Have a volume that is inconsistent.
    2. Go to the Storage tab and filter by that inconsistent
    volume.
    3. Delete that volume.
    4. Log off
    5. Log back on.

    Observe:
You will be greeted with an error when logging back on with this
    stacktrace:

Impact: Prevents managing of the system that you deleted the
volume on. It appears blocking without the workaround.

Local fix

  • Simply creating a new Wave and using that user from now on will
get you out of this error. However, if you would like to keep
    the old user:

    1) Create a new administrator.
    2) Log off the of the old user.
    3) Log on to the new user.
    4) Change the old user from an Administrator to a Regular User
    5) Log back into the old user and you shouldn't get that error
anymore (note, the storage tab will be missing).
    6) Log out of the old user.
    7) From the new user, make the old user an Administrator again.
    8) Feel free to suspend the new user if you don't plan on using
    it anymore.

Problem summary

  • Deleting an inconsistent volume will prevent managing systems
due to a coding error that leads to a NullPointerException
after re-logging on to IBM Wave. This coding error will be
fixed in a future release of the product.
