  • Syslogd fails to start when incorrect permission is set
in /etc/syslog.conf file

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The issue was due to logging error to the destination file
even before it was configured to be used by syslogd. Hence
to fix the issue syslogd will not log error in case incorrect
file permission is specified. The same error can be output
when syslogd is started in debug mode.
