IZ91705: NETCD DOESN'T CORRECTLY COMPUTE THE HASH_KEY APPLIES TO AIX 6100-07

Error description

  • netcd is computing hash_key values from lowercase values
out of the query value.
This lead to netcd returning the same cache entry for
hostnames in uppercase and lowercase.
This also lead to netcd returning the same cache entry
for ip addresses for which only one part of the address
is
different and that part of the address converted to lower
case would match the other host address for the same
part.
For example if the address end with 118 (0x76) will match
the same network host that end with 86 (0x56) that
converted
to lowercase also gives 0x76.
