Error description

  • On reboot of lpar, some storage devices may not release an
existing SCSI Reserve (from single_path reserve policy).  If
on the next boot, the reserve still exists, and disk is set
to run no_reserve, then lpar may be limited to using one path.

on the next boot, the reserve still exists, and disk is set
to run no_reserve, then lpar may be limited to using one path.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • If multiple paths are available to a disk, then the disk
device driver will attempt to detect a stale reserve when
opened with reserve_policy set to no_reserve.  If a stale
reserve is detected, then the disk driver will attempt to
release the stale reserve on open.
