Error description

  • Implementing automatic logoff in ksh by setting readonly
variable TMOUT non-zero and exporting TMOUT can be
defeated
by simply invoking ksh at the command line and setting
TMOUT=0.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • Define TMOUT as readonly and exported variable in /etc/profile
For some non-user try to modify it. It fails as expected. Now
if the same user spawn a subshell and try modifying TMOUT again
he can modify it, This is wrong.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Make sure readonly attribute is passed to the subshells for
variable TMOUT
