IZ87406: MIGRATION DOES NOT PRESERVE MOST OF THE SYS0 ATTRIBUTES APPLIES TO AIX 7100-00

APAR status

Error description

  • When a migration install to AIX 61 tl4 is performed on a
system where sys0 attribute ncargs is customized to a
value
other than default and less than 256 it resets all the
other attributes to a default value.

Local fix

  • Workaround
1.  reset the customized values for sys0
or
2.  set ncargs to 256 or higher before migration

Problem summary

  • On a migration install, customized settings of sys0 attributes
may revert back to default values.

Problem conclusion

  • The sys0 device configure method will only set attriutes that
have problems to the default value. Thus, on a migration
install where an attribute value from the older release is no
longer valid in the newer release, only that attribute will be
set to the default instead of all of the sys0 attributes.
