IBM MustGather: Collecting data for Guardium STAP

Question & Answer

Question

If there is a problem with the Guardium STAP, what information must be gathered before contacting IBM Software Support?

Answer

YouTube Video
Collecting a guard_diag for a Guardium S-TAP installed on UNIX (3.12)
This video demonstrates two methods of collecting a Guardium guard_diag file on a Unix system

The most comprehensive diagnostic data can be obtained using the UNIX diag from the DB Server machine and running guard_diag as follows

Versions 8.2 and later

If your Guardium S-TAP is v8.2 and later then the guard_diag script can be run on the DB Server as user root. The script is found in the
guardium installation directory/<STAP

for example in

/opt/IBM/modules/STAP/<current_version>

or

/usr/local/guardium/modules/STAP<current_version>

run the script ...

./guard_diag

When running the script the below notification will appear:

LOG LEVEL 4
LOG TIME 60
This diagnostics script runs for approximately two minutes.  During the course
of its execution, it will gather data about various aspects of your system to
aid in analysing performance issues and other problems.  To do so, a couple of
processes will be started and terminated after a predetermined time-out.  On
some systems, this may cause some messages about processes being killed to be
printed below - this is normal and should not be cause for concern.

When the script finished it will provide the location of the output file:

Diagnostics completed!  The results are in /tmp/diag.ustap.<hostname>.20-01-15_122022.tar.gz
