APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Aix 5.3 TL5 and onward ships sendmail 8.13.4.

While the sendmail has been upgraded, the configuration
file remained the same old version 9.

When running sendmail, it warns:

Warning: .cf file is out of date: sendmail AIX5.3/8.13.4
supports  version 10, .cf file is version 9

Local fix

  • Modify /etc/mail/sendmail.cf entry V9/Berkeley to
V10/Berkeley.

Problem summary

  • When running sendmail, it warns:
#sendmail -d0.1
Warning: .cf file is out of date: sendmail AIX5.3/8.13.4
supports version 10, .cf file is version 9

Problem conclusion

  • Code changes have been done to the packaging scripts to replace
the version number 10 properly with the cf file of sendmail
