Detailed errors not displayed / The server returned an unrecognizable query framework response error with no details / CM-REQ-4012 error not showing up

Problem

This issue is related to detailed errors not showing up OR no errors are displayed at all. The issue was reproduced for 2 errors messages so far: Scenario 1: When using user-defined SQL object in Report Studio, if invalid SQL is entered Cognos will report the following errors with no details: "The server returned an unrecognizable query framework response." Scenario 2: If a user does not have write permissions or has been explicitly denied permissions to a folder in Cognos, and tries to save a report to that folder, Report Studio shows that the report was successfully saved. The asterisk (*) sign in the Report name goes away and the save box disappears indicating that the report was saved successfully. Under normal circumstances an error message similar to the following would be thrown: "CM-REQ-4012 You do not have permission to update or delete the object "/FOLDERNAME" or a related object." - this doesn't get displayed.

Symptom

Issue was reproducible with:

1. IIS 7

2. The issue happens only if when accessing Cognos from a different system than the Cognos server itself. The issue was found to be non-reproducible if tried on the Gateway server itself.
