Error description

  • RC2343 MQRC_OBJECT_NOT_UNIQUE is not being returned after a
    shared queue with the same name as a local instance of a
    queue is created.

    If the Queue Manager is restarted, message CSQI063E correctly
    occurs, indicating that the queue is both PRIVATE and SHARED.

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After defining a shared queue with the *
    * same name as a private queue an MQOPEN *
    * will continue to open the private queue *
    * until the queue manager is restarted. *
    * The expected behaviour is that the *
    * MQOPEN should fail with *
    *                      MQRC_OBJECT_NOT_UNIQUE.                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The problem is that the code that handles the creation of a
    shared queue does not create an IVSA if a private queue of the
    same name already exists. The presence of an IVSA is used to
    determine if the name is a duplicate on a call to MQOPEN, so the
    reuse of the object name is not detected in this case. Once the
    queue manager is restarted the message CSQI063E is issued in the
    queue manager job log and MQRC_OBJECT_NOT_UNIQUE is reported on
    subsequent MQOPEN calls for this queue name.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed to create an IVSA in this situation.
