Support concurrent user image copies.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IRP V1R1 users who use DRF to recover * * using concurrent user image copies. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The DRF procedure to recover a DBDS or * * area using a user image copy fails if * * the user image copy is concurrent. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** To do a DRF recovery with a user image copy, USEDBDS or USEARA must be specified. The user must restore the data set first with the user image copy. Then the user must let DBRC know that the data set has been restored by doing a NOTIFY.RECOV DBRC command. If the user image copy is concurrent, DBRC fails the NOTIFY.RECOV command because the DBDS/AREA is in use at the time of the recovery. Therefore, DRF is unable to do a recovery with concurrent user image copies.

Comments
To do a DRF recovery with a user image copy, the image copy must be restored first. Next a DBRC NOTIFY.RECOV must be used to update the RECON. USEDBDS/USEAREA must be specified on the DRF ADD command. Although no guarantee this procedure likely ensures that the data set has been restored prior to the recovery. . This procedure fails if a concurrent user image copy is used because DBRC doesn't allow a NOTIFY.RECOV command if the DBDS or area is in use. DRF has changed the procedure to allow a recovery with concurrent user image copies. The image copy must be restored first. Two new keywords are added to the DRF ADD command. . USEUICLAST tells DRF to recover based on the latest user image copy registered in the RECON. . USEUICTIME(timestamp) tells DRF to recover based on a user image copy registered in the RECON with the specified timestamp. . DRF does not restore the data set from the user image copy but applies log changes based on the type of user image copy and the time of the image copy. . USEUICLAST and USEUICTIME(timestamp) can always be used in place of USEDBDS/USEAREA. . The manual IMS Database Recovery Facility User's Guide and Reference has been updated to add these change. See the IMS Tech Doc at http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27018379 for complete details.
