  Optim examines packed data before comparing to avoid program
  checks.  When the data is invalid Optim considers the values not
  equal even though the values to be compared are identical.  This
  can be misleading.
  

Problem conclusion

• Optim will now use a binary compare when either or both of the
  columns to be compared contain invalid packed values.
