APAR status

  • Closed as fixed if next.

Error description

  • When using Internet Explorer 9 with zOSMF, a user will see
    'Error: Could not complete the operation due to error
    c00c023f.null' when an AJAX call is aborted. This message
    appears in IZUG0.log.

    VERIFICATION STEPS:
    The user will see the above message in the IZUG0.log. The
    message does not have an error message identification such as
    IZUGxxxE, and it appears raw in the log.

Local fix

  • The use of a browser other than IE9 will bypass this and show
    the failing AJAX call.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM z/OSMF using IE9, *
    *                 Version 2 Release 1.                         *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When an AJAX call is aborted by a *
    * browser, users may see arbitrary *
    * message like 'Error: Could not complete *
    * the operation due to error *
    *                      c00c023f.null' in IZUGx.log.            *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The arbitrary message in IZUGx.log is because of the use of
    z/OSMF Core UI log method LOGGER.error() or LOGGER.severe()
    which takes any string as the parameter, when users of the
    methods don't provide any message ID or the package name or the
    method name, the log entry will become an arbitrary message.

    To fix the problem, z/OSMF Core will add the package name to the
    UI log entries.
