OA56321: INPUT I/O DOES NOT PRESERVE IEP STATUS FOR 1 MEGABYTE PAGES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When paging in a large, non-executable 64-bit page, the
  Instruction Execution Protection status is not preserved.
  This can happen to users running z/OS V2.2 and v2.3
  on a z14 that use the Instruction Execution Protection
  hardware function.

  When processing a 1M high virtual page during page fault, the
  Instruction Execution Protection status setting will go from on
  to off for the page when the faulted page has input i/o or
  output i/o in progress.
  

Problem conclusion

• Page fault processing for a high virtual 1Meg page is changed to
  preserve the Instruction Execution Protection status when input
  i/o or output i/o is in progress.
