OA55200: MSGIEFI000I SWA RELOCATION ERROR OR ABEND08D RC249 MAY OCCUR AT Z/OS 2.3 WHEN USING SECOND PARM IN REGIONX ON JOB STATEMENT

Error description

• Customers using the REGIONX JCL parameter at zOS 2.3 may
  experience IEFI000I SWA RELOCATION SYSTEM ERROR when using
  the value 80M for the above the line REGIONX sub-parameter on
  the JOB Statement.

  Must be Running with INTERPRET=JES:
   $T JOBDEF,INTERPRET=JES
  
  along with the message IEFI000I there may also be an abend08D
  RC249 issued from IEFITRL at + x'946'
  
  Could also potentially be a value which has x'40' in it as well.

  Data conversion of the REGIONX JCL keyword, when specified on
  the JOB statement, may cause a failure in Scheduler JCL Facility
  (SJF) update processing.  If the converted value contains a byte
  with a value of '40'x, SJF erroneously attempts to process the
  data as a blank rather than as a hexadecimal value. This has
  been seen when 80M is coded as the second parameter on the
  REGIONX keyword.
  
  This error will only occur in the following environments:
  - JES2 installations with JOBDEF,INTERPRET=JES set.
  - JES3 installations
  
  Additional symptoms: ABEND08D RC249 with dump title:
     COMPON=SCHED-IEFITRL,COMPID=SC1B9,ISSUER=IEFITRL-RLR
     RECOVERY, ERROR DURING PROCESSING
  

Problem conclusion

• Scheduler JCL Facility (SJF) processing is changed to properly
  parse all values of the REGIONX keyword.
