OA52982: IDC3009I ** VSAM CATALOG RETURN CODE IS 98 - REASON CODE IS IGG0CLE6-3

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After placing a non-SMS managed volume into a SMS Storage Group,
  message IDC3009I with RETURN CODE 98 and REASON CODE IGG0CLE6-3
  can be received when attempting to rename a multi-volume data
  set on that volume / volume set and the volume has not been
  fully/completely converted via DFDSS ConvertV.

  SMS introduces a new flag, SSSAGHCV, to indicate that SMS should
  honor the caller volume list, and not return the catalog volume
  list to the DADSM rename back-end.  DADSM introduces a new flag
  in the SVC 30 parameter list that indicates that the caller
  wants the volume list to be honored, and DADSM will set the new
  SMS flag in its interface to SMS.
  

Problem conclusion

• 3 components including the SVC 30 (RENAME) interface were
  changed to fix this problem so that the rename scenario
  described above is now successful.  OA52982  contains the DADSM
  changes, OA52983 contains the Catalog changes and OA52984
  contains the SMS changes. All 3 APARs are required for the fix
  to be effective.
