interactive capacity to purchased levels.  This PTF may be a prerequisite
for future PTFs.  By applying this PTF you authorize and agree to the
foregoing.

This PTF is subject to the terms of the 'IBM License Agreement for Machine

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
LAN console initially works but fails when the IBM i system
adapter used for LAN console is shared with TCP/IP. The error
occurs when the system's LAN console adapter IP address is
obtained through DHCP, the LAN console PC has an address in a
separate subnet, and the LAN console PC does not respond to echo
requests (pings) from the system.

CORRECTION FOR APAR MA37419 :
-----------------------------
Verification of the system LAN console IP address obtained
through DHCP will no longer rely on being able to ping the LAN
console PC since it is becoming more frequent for PC firewalls
to block incoming pings. Instead, the address from DHCP will be
considered OK if it is in the same subnet as the LAN console
PC's address or a default router was provided by the DHCP
server.

Additionally, in the infrequent cases where the DHCP address is
not kept, the DHCP processing will be reset so that a subsequent
connection attempt from a LAN console PC will not block.
