APAR Error Description / Circumvention
-------------------------------------------------
A PPP connection profile connects successfully and adds a TCP/IP
static route and a TCP/IP interface. When the PPP connection
profile is ended the route is not removed and the attempt to
remove the interface fails with message TCP8333 and error code
10. The error code indicates that the interface could not be
removed because the route is still active.
CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE55916' :
-------------------------------
This fix will remove all TCP/IP static routes associated with a
PPP connection profile when the PPP connection profile is ended.
This will allow any TCP/IP interfaces associated with those
routes to be removed successfully.
CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR 'SE55916' :
----------------------------------
The TCP/IP routes and TCP/IP interfaces associated with the PPP
connection profile can be removed by ending TCP/IP (ENDTCP) and
restarting TCP/IP (STRTCP).
DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR 'SE55890' :
-------------------------------------------------
After upgrading to a Power7 at V7R1 PPP does not work. PPP used
to work to the upgrade. When a PPP connection is attempted it
fails with message TCP8332 "TCP/IP point-to-point interface
208.66.115.111 not added" and message CPF9897 "IPCP
FSM_ADMIN_CLOSE CODE 24, UNABLE TO ACTIVATE IP INTERFACES. SRC:
qtocipcp.c 525".
CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE55890' :
-------------------------------
This problem occurred when the PPP connection profile was
modified using the V7R1 version of System i Navigator (PC
program). PPP added support for IPv6 in release V7R1, but the
new PPP IPv6 parameters are only supported by IBM Navigator for
i (web interface) and not by the V7R1 version System i Navigator
(PC program). This fix corrects the problem with creating or
modifying a PPP connection profile using the V7R1 version of
System i Navigator.
CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR 'SE55890' :
----------------------------------
Use IBM Navigator for i (web interface) to create or modify PPP
connection profiles.
Activation Instructions
None.
Special Instructions
After the fix is applied, end all PPP connection profiles, then end the
QTPPPCTL job. The QTPPPCTL job will restart automatically when a PPP
connection profile is started.
End any System i Navigator (PC GUI) session that is active to the
system.

THE FOLLOWING ARE SUPERSEDED SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE SUPERSEDED
PTF HAS ALREADY BEEN APPLIED AND ITS SPECIAL INSTRUCTION FOLLOWED,
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO FOLLOW THAT SPECIAL INSTRUCTION AGAIN.
********************************************************************
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI38969 :
=================================================
1) End all Point-to-point connection profiles (ENDTCPPTP *ALL).
2) End the QTPPPCTL job.
The QTPPPCTL job will start automatically when a Point-to-point
connection profile is started (STRTCPPTP).
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI38431 :
=================================================
End all Point-to-Point connection profiles prior to applying this PTF.
Default Instructions
THIS PTF CAN BE APPLIED IMMEDIATE OR DELAYED.
