APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
In V7R1 a PPP dial line allows the use of CHAP authentication to
be negotiated, even though only PAP authentication is configured
in the Point-to-Point connection profile. This causes the
authentication phase of the connection to fail and the
connection is not successful. This same configuration worked
successfully in V5R4 because the PPP dial line only allowed PAP
authentication to be negotiated.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE55297 :
-----------------------------
The V7R1 PPP code should not allow CHAP authentication to be
negotiated when only PAP authentication is configured in the
Point-to-Point connection profile. This fix corrects the problem
and allows only PAP authentication to be negotiated when only
PAP authentication is configured.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE55297 :
--------------------------------
None.

Activation Instructions

None.

Special Instructions

1) End all Point-to-point connection profiles (ENDTCPPTP *ALL).
2) End the QTPPPCTL job.

The QTPPPCTL job will start automatically when a Point-to-point
connection profile is started (STRTCPPTP).

THE FOLLOWING ARE SUPERSEDED SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE SUPERSEDED
PTF HAS ALREADY BEEN APPLIED AND ITS SPECIAL INSTRUCTION FOLLOWED,
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO FOLLOW THAT SPECIAL INSTRUCTION AGAIN.
