SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI20999 :

Installing the fix/refresh pack
------------------------
Follow these instructions to install the fix/refresh pack:
Throughout these instructions, you must replace <edition> with either 'B
ase' or 'ND', depending on the product version installed.

If you applied the WebSphere Application Server V6 for OS/400 group PTF,
skip step 1 - this step was done for you when the PTF was applied.

1. If you downloaded the fix/refresh pack from the internet, extract the
contents of file to the product install root, /QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/
AppServer/V6/<edition>
For example, if the fix/refresh pack zip file is in /home/userid/fp60x,
do the following from the OS/400 command line:
STRQSH
cd /QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/<edition>
jar -xf /home/userid/fp60x/<filename.zip>

2. End any WebSphere Application Server jobs which are running. End the
QWAS6 subsystem if active.

3. Start the host servers if they are not already active: STRHOSTSVR *AL
L

3. Submit the update Qshell script located in the updateinstaller direct
ory under the product install root to run as a batch job. Example:

SBMJOB CMD(STRQSH CMD('/QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/<edition
>/updateinstaller/update'))
JOB(UPDATE) ALWMLTTHD(*YES)

Note: The above command submits the job to the QBATCH subsystem which us
es storage pool 2 by default.
You can specify the JOBQ parameter to cause the job to use a diffe
rent job queue, subsystem and storage pool.

Note: Ensure that the storage pool in which the job runs has as much mem
ory as possible.

Note: Ensure no resource intensive workloads are running, but do not put
the system in restricted state.

4. The installation is complete when the job ends. Check the updatelog.t
xt file
located under directory /QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/<editio
n>/logs/update
for successful completion. The last line of the file indicates if the
install was
sueccessul (INSTCONFSUCCESS), partially sucessful (INSTCONFPARTIALSUC
CESS) or
failed (INSTCONFFAIL)

Note: Installation of the fix/refresh pack may take up to 4 hours depend
ing on your iSeries system.



Uninstalling the fix/refresh pack
--------------------------
1. End any WebSphere Application Server jobs which are running. End the
QWAS6 subsystem if active.

2. Run the update Qshell script located in the updateinstaller directory
under the product install root as follows:
STRQSH
cd /QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/<edition>/updateinstaller
update -W update.type=uninstall

3. The uninstall is complete when you see the following messages:
(Mar 22, 2005 8:58:15 PM), Install, com.ibm.ws.install.ni.ismp.action
s.ISMPLogSuccessMessageAction, msg1, INSTCONFSUCCESS
Wizard.getExitCode(): called after WizardServices is shutdown.
Wizard.getExitCode(): called after WizardServices is shutdown.

The updateinstaller displays the uninstall progress to the screen.
Do not exit (PF3) your Qshell session until the uninstall has completed.
You can use the PF12 key to Disconnect your Qshell session and return t
o the OS/400 command line - but do not signoff until the uninstall has c
ompleted.
Note: Uninstalling the fix/refresh pack may take an hour or more dependi
ng on your iSeries system.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI17368 :
=================================================

After applying this PTF, additional steps are required to actually insta
ll the fix pack. Follow these steps to install the V6.0.0.2 fix pack for
WebSphere Application Server for OS/400:
1). From the OS/400 command line using a user profile with *ALLOBJ speci
al authority, start a Qshell session:
STRQSH

2). Change directory to WAS_INSTALL_ROOT/updateinstaller, where WAS_INST
ALL_ROOT is:
/QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/Base if you have WebSphere App
lication Server - Express V6.0 or WebSphere Application Server V6.0 inst
alled

/QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/ND if you have WebSphere Appli
cation Server Network Deployment V6.0 installed.

For example,
cd /QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/Base/updateinstaller

If you have more than one Version 6 product install, follow these in
structions for each product.

3). Run the update script as follows:
update -options responsefiles/install.txt

Output from the fix pack install will be displayed. Note: Installing
the fix pack may take over an hour depending on your system resources.
